Now that the Opening Ceremonies have been conducted, it is time to get serious about competition in the Geneabloggers 2010 Winter Games! It is a lot of fun to see other bloggers getting excited about these games and advancing their genealogy and blogging in various ways.
My progress so far has been encouraging. Today I scanned 20 photos and organized them, completing tasks C, D and E of Category 3. Combined with my activity from Saturday, this gives me a Platinum Medal in this category.
What follows is my contribution for Category 4 – Task A. Combined with my efforts from Saturday, this gives me a silver medal in this category. This also fulfills Category 5 – Task F – Participate in a 52 Weeks To Better Genealogy Challenge, which lists Challenge 7: Google Maps.
This is a Google Map plotting the place where my father’s family is from: Budakeszi, Hungary. They were immigrants in the early 1700’s brought in to colonize the area around Budapest after yeras of war left the area depopulated.
So far my summary is:
Category 2: Gold medal (Task C completed and more)
Category 3: Platinum Medal (Tasks A, B,C, D, and E completed)
Category 4: Silver Medal (Tasks A and D completed)
Category 5: Silver Medal (Tasks A and F completed)
Category 6: Silver Medal (Tasks A and G completed)
I am going to be working hard on all of the categories for the rest of the games, even category 3, where I already have a platinum medal. I’ll be posting updates as they happen!
